CRAZY_4_NAZZY
I dont love that we waived Studnicka after he had a good camp. He in my opinion earned his spot to be at least on the main roster. Dont love the messaging the organization is sending. They told him to come in shape and reinvent his game. He comes in does everything they ask him to, and was the only one that seemed to play with a semblence of desperation and urgency. There are more deserving guys that deserved to get waived. Huggy Bear
A pesky forechecker and PKer, and a known quantity to Tocchet. TOR seemed high on him…possible he’s a cap casualty as a bottom 6 player with a $1M+salary?

DrJockitch
We needed a right shot faceoff man. Sounds like this seasons version of Studnicka trade, giving away young assets for waiver level player.

Don't agree. He didn't play good enough. Not what we need on that 4th line. You can reinvent your game, work as hard as you want, but if you aren't a fit, then you aren't a fit. Can't reward guys on just working hard, there needs to be a skill and fit element to it as well. 1 1 2 1
DownUndaCanuck
Big body, 28 years old, put up some very small points in a handful of games the last couple of years. Hope it's not insurance in case Blueger's injured, wouldn't mind him in the AHL but yeah not sure why we did this. A 5th is basically a throw away anyway so don't mind that but still, he is a slightly talented pylon so makes no sense unless someone's injured or another trade is upcoming. Popular Post eeeeeeeeergh
Nice i like this one over 50% faceoff percentage, big body, very fast, kills penalties Lafferty-Bleuger-Joshua is a 4th line that sounds pretty good to me + if Blueger gets thrown out of the faceoff circle, Lafferty is a natural C with a +50% faceoff winning percentage 4 1 2

Seems like a sizeable upgrade and a much-needed right-hand shot centreman who can play wing as well, as well as score more than 10 goals and many helpers. 1 5

Agreed, but an individual deserving a spot based on play and acquiring someone in that same spot who has a stronger capacity to improve the overall team needs is exactly what good teams do to ensure their chances. Studs showed some heart and hustle but he was trying to play up to what a player like Lafferty offers, and unfortunately can’t bring the same physical game or defensive attributes. it’s just competition in pro sports. Gotta feel a bit for Studnicka but I’d swap a Lafferty for him all day long. Just sucks we gave up a pick but like some are saying it can be recouped later. Also, if precursor to another trade then it doesn’t hurt to have another C with size on the roster. 1 3
