(Trade) Sam Lafferty to Vancouver

You’d have a valid point if it was a meaningful pick. A fifth is and always will be a nothingburger. If Lafferty only plays 10-15 games as a Canuck, odds are that is 10-15 more than a fifth round pick would have played.

With that logic every team should trade away every 5th round pick.

Drafting is all about volume. Need more picks to increase odds of finding a gem.

We keep trading away picks year after year. And look how weak our prospect pool is.

No, with my logic it’s not a pick worth crying over. Nothing more, nothing less.

It's the 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks we keep trading away that have caused that problem, not our 5th round picks.

Also, if everyone traded away their 5th round picks, everyone would end up with someone else's 5th round picks or 1 team would have too many picks because they would only be able to sign a select few, negating the benefit of such a "feat". lol

I haven't seen anything in Studnicka to keep him in the lineup. That said far too many forwards, is Lafferty going to be part of a package for a defenseman? We've had too many of the Schallers, Dries, Joshuas, et al over the years. Time for some of the kids that are in our system to get a shot.

A fifth round pick isn’t making our prospect pool stronger ffs stop the dramatics 🤣

I like Studnicka’s motor and willingness to finish checks but this is an upgrade over him. Solid move.

All the traded picks hinder our prospect pool. Of course the higher rounds are more impactful, but that doesn't mean throw away every 4th or later to acquire plugs like we continuously do.

That fifth round pick could be anything, it could even be Sam Lafferty!

What makes you think Lafferty's a plug? Have you even looked at his stats?
