Popular Post Future Considerations
I liked everything about this game, best home opener in years! Every naysayer in the media and on twitter the last few days - Canucks just shut them all up. Kudos to the optimistic fans on this forum for keeping the faith. Loved the Captains post game interview, was informative, political, perfect. Coach Tocchet keeping an even keel post game, nice. He knows and we all know they can do it again. Popular Post bhoodlum
Great game by the boys! They made me regret my decision to play Far Cry 3. I did listen to the game on the radio and as I was picking off Vaas' pirates I was pretending it was Brock Boeser scoring. And a hearty thank you to the good folks who put this FAN-tastic site together. Let's keep the Ws coming, boys! Woo! 4

Popular Post JamesB
Late Comments. 1. Had the pleasure of being at the game tonight. It was fantastic to be there. I was pretty nervous even when we were up 3-0 (that same start we had last year against the Oilers before losing 5-3. I think I relaxed after we went up 6-1 in the third. 2. Obviously a very nice win and a well-played game by the Canucks, especially in view of only having 11 forwards. But the game was a lot closer than the score indicated. The shots were about the same until the Oilers took some penalties late in the 3rd. 3. One key that has not got a lot of attention is that Demko was a lot better than both Oiler goalies. For me, Demko being on his game is the more important key to the season. 4. Some great individual performances, including Boeser, Miller, Petey and Hughes but the team game was very important. As Tocchet emphasized, the 5-man unit of the Miller line (with Boeser and PDG) and Hughes and Hronek did a great job as a unit against the McDavid line. How often does the McDavid line get dominated like it was tonight: -3 with a negative expected goals differential. 5, Tocchet also mentioned that the Canucks were lucky tonight. Not every aspect of the play was positive. Juulsen and Hirose in particular struggled, despite getting relatively easy minutes. So the D is still an issue. But Hronek and Hughes were very good and Cole and Myers were good. Myers is a veteran, but I think he is benefiting from good coaching. Great game. Hope the Canucks can keep it up. 4 3 3
Power-Forward
I loved watching BB get his 4th goal he was having so much fun he was laughing at that point. We should have a huge momentum boost going into Edmonton next game. I really hope Brock has a good year and can build off this major confidence boost. 1

Popular Post Canuckleheads Fan
I was looking forward to this game all day. I work nights and got off at 8 a.m. I went to bed and couldn't sleep. I got up at noon and saw my chiropractor because I'm frigging old. But top of mind all day was this game. I saw every minute, ran it back, and watched it again, so as far as I'm concerned, we are now 2-0 and have a 16-2 goal differential, despite the flu trying to screw us! I am so happy for Brock; he's been through so much. I hope he keeps it going and becomes the player he was destined to be before his back injury and his Dad dying. It was a true 60-minute effort. Everybody played their role. I thought Hogs was visible for all the right reasons. He was smart with the puck in all three zones, checked hard, was great on the wall, and won his board battles. He had a couple of plays that could have turned into goals, so I was glad he got the apple on Joshua's goal. I really like Lafferty; what a great steal by PA. All six D played well; even the bottom two were fine. Everbody's focused on the top pair, but I thought Myers and Cole looked good too. I like that Juulsen was throwing his weight around, and continued to play his simple game. I thought the best player on the ice was Petey. He seemed to have a killer instinct tonight, throwing the body, skating hard, and his world-class skill! That primary assist on Garland's goal was a masterpiece, and his wicked wrister on the PP, wow! Needless to say, I'm as happy as I've been in a while! Time for some celebratory pancakes! Go Nucks! 1 1 1 1
Popular Post Curmudgeon
Trivial Fun Fact: Brock Boeser is not the first Canuck to register a four goal game in a season opener. On October 8, 1987 Greg Adams scored four against the St. Louis Blues in an 8-2 victory. He went on to finish the season with 36 goals in 80 games, and only Tony Tanti with 40 scored more. The Canucks finished last in the old five-team Smythe Division with 59 points and missed the playoffs. 1 1 1 2

Still is a terrible decision. But moving on…. After game 1 of the regular season, and boy what a game 1 that was, this new fan forum is better than the old and I’m sure will only grow in member numbers as word gets around. Looking at the several pages on both the game day and PGT topics, it’s like nothing has changed!! Loving it! Really appreciate all the effort from those involved that made this a seamless transition. To the creator(s) and admins, on behalf of all of us.. THANK YOU!!!! Go Canucks Go!!! I like our new home better. Less control. Plus we are creating this ourselves. drdeath
What a fun evening! I started at the Canucks Team Store 10 years ago at the home opener after the lockout. I was thrown into working the main store at 113 because the team was doing an Everything 50% off sale for the first 3 games to thank fans for sticking with them through the lockout. The Ducks absolutely pummeled us that night. Tonight I got to start this season off as the host in Section 113 and got to watch live as we absolutely pummeled the Oilers. On a personal level that was absolutely a game I'll remember for a long time. Oh and I met Chelsea Green. That was fun! 1
Mathew Barzal
Went to the game today. Probably my favourite game I’ve been to so far, felt like I was barely sitting down before I had to stand back up again to cheer! Hope the boys continue to work hard as not every team will roll over as easily as the Oilers.

Rubik
oh my god, what a game... probably the best Canucks game I've seen since the 2019 playoffs... I'm so so so happy for Boeser, I just loved that wrist shot on his 1st(?) goal, Demko was pretty good, was pretty mad at Joshua for that unnecessary penalty in the offensive zone that gave the Oilers their only goal, Höglander was pretty invisible, but I really really liked Rafferty, he was really noticeable in my opinion, drove the play many times. Defense was pretty solid. And ahh, it's such a breath of fresh air that they not only kept the friggin' lead, but they kept the pressure on and kept adding to the lead. And compare this to what that gutless flames team did... they whooped an AHL roster with their almost full NHL roster 10-0 in a meaningless game, while Tocchet played his 2nd pp unit out when it was 6 or 7-1. That's class and integrity. It will be interesting to see how they move forward from here, right now they have the momentum, it would be pretty sweet to start a season strong for once and have an above .600 October. 1

Knowing how hungry they are, they’ve probably already forgotten about last nights game and are getting ready to prepare for Saturday. If there’s truly a season where there’s “Unfinished Business”, it’s this season. Would be absolutely HUUUGE if we get Blueger, Mikheyev, and Soucy for Saturday. Though I’m suspecting only Blueger will be ready to go. 2 hours ago, Pears said: God seeing that box score got me feeling all warm and fuzzy.
