Kessel can replace Beauvillier if he’s traded but I don’t think he can replace Garland.

Garland has become too important to this team to trade. He and Joshua have really given an identity to the third line. Can’t imagine Kessel at this stage bringing the hustle that Garly does.

Beauvillier has been an absolute work horse. Been on for 1 goal against total. 98.88 oiSV% at 5v5

edit: both Garland and Beau have been on for 2GA

Virtually everything is almost identical

Garland has however drawn 5 more penalties

Beau has more takeaways.

Garland>Beau by a bit

Its really Simple; Garland has elite puck handling, wrist shot and skating ability. In addition, he always has/does give 110% every shift. His problem; he is only 5'7" and 150 (he is NOT 5'10" 170 as listed)! So how do you accommodate his skill set; play him with bigger more physical players.

Those who are surprised he is playing so well just don't pay attention. He has done the same numerous times with the team (the Podz-Miller-Garland line come to mind). If you subbed out Beau for Dakota or Suter/Blueger, his #s would drop, as he would just get ground out every shift.

That bit being large when playing in a 3rd line role.

At what point will Canuck fans move on from wanting yesteryear heroes and saviors. Kessel is yesterday. How in the world would a Phil Kessel fit into RT's game plan? Kinda laughable.

Kessel wouldn't be coming here to be a saviour. He'd be here as a good depth player on a cheap contract, which we definitely need.
