Shame to hear about Bighill- guy is dang near hall of fame worthy, and this hurts his chances. Note- in the following story he is going to try and play next season- despite being 35 now, and a bunch of rehab coming. I would also do my best to rehab, and play; by doing the hard work of rehab for game shape-even if he doesn't make it, that leg/knee will be better for him, than if he just rehabbed,to retire.imo https://www.msn.com/en-ca/health/other/bombers-adam-bighill-reveals-season-is-over/ar-AA1qQsoH?ocid=BingNewsSerp " Winnipeg Blue Bombers linebacker Adam Bighill has confirmed the seriousness of his knee injury. Bighill took to social media on Thursday to say he was about to go in for surgery that will end his season. “The support from family, friends, teammates and fans has been incredible,” Bighill posted. “It sure makes this process easier, as it’s the furthest thing from your expected version of the season. Excited to watch and help my guys finish this season to reach our ultimate goal.” Bighill was hurt late in the Bombers’ win over Saskatchewan in the Labour Day Classic. He was blitzing when a low block sent him head over heels. The 35-year-old has been limited to 10 games this season, making 48 tackles and one quarterback sack. The Bombers will also miss the experience and leadership that effectively made him a coach on the field, helping teammates get lined up and anticipate what’s coming from the opposing offence. This was Bighill’s sixth season in Winnipeg, following six with the B.C. Lions. A three-time winner of the CFL Most Outstanding Defensive Player Award (2105, ’18 and ’21), Bighill’s age doesn’t work in his favour if he hopes to continue playing. By the way he ended his message on Thursday, that seems to be what he intends to do. “This isn’t the end of #4 by any means,” he posted. “But it does mean one step at a time. Attacking rehab is next.” In Bighill’s absence, Canadian Shayne Gauthier has seen more action in the middle. -------------------a little bit more at link
