It's a similar situation to why AV gave Schneider a start against Chicago in 2011, and should have again for Game 6 against Boston. Sadly, Schneider is not experienced or intelligent enough to make those kind of decisions.

It was the hitting (again) that let the Jays down yesterday. 1

It was the hitting (again) that let the Jays down yesterday. Bit of a disingenuous argument. Twins scored three runs in Gausman's 4IP. Gausman walked 3 and threw 73 pitches. He had a WHIP that was 33% higher than his season average and obviously struggled. The Jays ultimately lost because of their hitting... but they've been losing games all year because of their hitting, nobody should be surprised by that. It is not surprising that Gausman got the start. What is surprising (but perhaps it shouldn't be, given this team) is that Gausman's outing went exactly the way his past outings against the Twins went. flickyoursedin
Wow a bunt in the 2nd inning. I know Varsho is a black hole for offence but to give them the 2nd out. I don’t know just seems too early to call for a bunt.

Rip The Mesh
Get the bats going or you're dun! Vlad has just gone so cold as of late. Swings at bad pitches. wai_lai416
i woulda left berrios in the game.. he was on.. if he's gonna make a change.. shoulda just go to the bullpen.. not blaming kikuchi but i rather starters coming in game more of a closer role or defending a league not prevent runs in the playoff
nuckin_futz
Still can’t believe Schneider pulled Berrios there. What a foolish move. And then Vladdy caught napping to end the threat. Not even upset if it means major changes are coming.

Ultimately, it is part of a larger failure of this Jays team to have any sort of identity.

If blowing an 8-1 lead in a do or die game at home wasn't a fireable offence then this has to be. Literally inexcusable to pull your pitcher when he's dominating like Berrios was.
