"he Blue Jays have won five of their last six games, but still sit below the .500 mark with a 28-30 record, putting them a few percentage points behind the Rays for last place in the AL East.  As Darragh McDonald put it in a piece for MLBTR last week, some tough decisions will await the club heading into the trade deadline, and perhaps in the bigger picture entirely if the Jays don’t start heating up in a hurry.

Trading either of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. or Bo Bichette would be the most seismic moves Toronto could make if the team did decide to sell at the deadline.  The duo have been the faces of this era of Blue Jays baseball, but since both are scheduled to become free agents after the 2025 season, it isn’t yet clear if either player will truly be in Toronto for the long term – whether due to the Jays’ overall struggles or the team’s own hesitation about making a big financial commitment to players with inconsistent performance.

In either case, Jays GM Ross Atkins pushed back against the idea of a Guerrero/Bichette trade in an interview Sunday on MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM and reiterated that the Blue Jays “believe in their futures and hope that there is a way they can play here for a long time.”  In regards to possible extensions, Atkins said “of course we have dialogue with them” about such multi-year deals and that "that is something that will continue.”

Atkins is a moron. His pursuit of Ohtani was never going to happen, and all he did was destroy the chemistry of this team.

Also those 5 wins have come against the White Sox, Tigers, and Pirates. Pirates are a leg up on the other two and we struggled with them.

I'm hoping ownership steps up and clears out the front office before these idiots are allowed to do any more damage.  Any trade of the core needs to be negotiated by qualified management instead of baboons like Atkins and Shapiro.

Sources: Padres' Tucupita Marcano faces MLB ban for betting

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/40271458/sources-padres-tucupita-marcano-faces-mlb-ban-betting

Marcano, 24, has yet to be formally penalized, but MLB Rule 21 explicitly states that a player who bets on games involving his own team is subject to a lifetime ban. Marcano tore his ACL last year and was on the injured list when he allegedly placed the bets, which were flagged by a sportsbook and reported to the league, according to sources.

The potential ban of Marcano comes in the wake of the NBA handing down a lifetime penalty to Toronto Raptors forward Jontay Porter for disclosing confidential information to bettors, limiting his participation in at least one game and betting on NBA games while in the minor leagues.

Four other minor league players are facing potential discipline for gambling as well, sources told ESPN. Even if a player in the minor leagues is on a team's 40-man roster, he would face a one-year suspension for gambling on major league games, according to Rule 21.

I'm starting to think this is Buck's last year of 'colour commenting'.

sounds run down, beat down, and needs more prompting from Dan S to say much.

Hopefully it's just because the team sucks, and not a sign of health troubles.

Not much to cheer about when you see the score.

The loss was pretty much a foregone conclusion. The Jays were on a bullpen day, with Trevor Richards as the Opener and then Bowden Francis, etc.

Meanwhile, the O's were starting Corbin Burnes and his lifetime 3.16 ERA.....

Even with one of their regular starters, the Jays would have been heavy underdogs. Probably better off saving Berrios for a more beatable opponent in Albert Suarez.

His voice sounds different lately…maybe he’s just tired I don’t know..

3-2 final as Jays walk it off against the O's, thanks to a 9th inning double by IKF....

The difference was a bad throw by Greg Kimbrel. Justin Turner led off with a single, but a couple of pitches later, Kimbrel had pinch runner Cavan Biggio picked off....except that the throw was wide and skipped off of Ryan Mountcastle's glove, into foul territory. Biggio got up and ran to second....

After a long fly ball by Kirk, Biggio was able to tag up and get to third. The O's outfield had to come in to have a chance of throwing CB out on a sac fly. IKF hit a one hopper off the fence in right....well over the fielder's head and Biggio was able to jog home with the winning run...

This may be a bad day to bitch about this given the walk off win but what is with all the water dumping like they won something worth celebrating? There's 162 games, you gonna dump water like you won the division every time? You've got sole possession of the basement.

Also I can't help but notice no one ever dumps water on Vladdy. Maybe because he's on pace for about 16 home runs and about 70 RBI. That's worse production than Davis Schneider who has 60+ less at bats.

The homerun jacket has made a comeback, as well.

Jays win 3 in a row and are 6-4 in their last 10

Yankees,  Orioles and Red Sox  also went 6-4, so Jays have gained zero games, and are 11 games behind the division lead.

Only team they gained ground on is Tampa who went 3-7--Jays now .5 games behind the Rays- for 4rth spot.

1/3 into the season.

Now June 6/24

Jays have gone 6-4 over last 10, keeping pace with the Rays, gaining 1 game on Red Sox, and losing ground to every other eastern team.

Now 14 games behind the division lead.
