The dust has settled on the 2024 MLB Draft and the trade deadline, and top prospect lists are being updated.

This week, MLB Pipeline updated its Top 100 list, as well as all 30 teams’ top 30 list. With the infusion of talent from both the draft and the trade deadline, the Blue Jays’ top 30 has undergone a significant shakeup.

Let’s take a look at some notable changes to the Jays’ top 30. You can read the entire list here.

The Blue Jays don’t have a top 100 prospect

On MLB Pipeline’s preseason top 100 list, the Blue Jays had two prospects that ranked on the list: Ricky Tiedemann at 28th and Orelvis Martinez at 85th. However, both players fell off the ranking as both players hadn’t played in over a month. Martinez’s absence is due to a PED suspension, while Ricky Tiedemann underwent Tommy John surgery.

And this is just as much reason to fire Shapiro and Atkins as the MLB team.  This organization has not been able to draft and develop nearly enough.

Vladdy- the best second half season of baseball-EVER?

https://www.msn.com/en-ca/sports/mlb/vladimir-guerrero-jr-is-having-the-best-second-half-of-any-player-in-mlb-history/ar-AA1oSAAp?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531&cvid=060ac080ec2443b59ac15557a2deb61a&ei=9

'

Vladimir Guerreo Jr. Willie Mays. Joe DiMaggio. Lou Gehrig.

They’re not a quadruplet you’d often think would be referenced in the same sentence, but these four are among nine big leaguers who have put together as impressive of a streak as the Toronto Blue Jays slugger has over his last 26 games.

As highlighted by the excellent Sarah Langs, Guerrero Jr. is the latest to have over 25 extra-base hits and a .450 batting average or better over a 26-game span in a single season. In fact, Vladdy is only the second to do so in the last 66 years, with the only other since Mays did so in 1958 was then Houston Astros outfielder Richard Hidalgo in 2000.

The full list features the likes of Paul Waner (1927), Chick Hafey (1928), Al Simmons (1931), Joe Cronin (1933), Gehrig (1936), DiMaggio (1937), Mays and Hidalgo. What separates Guerrero Jr. from a few of these players is that his run has come at a time when league average OPS is among the lowest of any other years these players had their runs in.

2024’s .244 league batting average heading into Thursday’s games is the lowest of any of these players, with only 1958, when Cronin had his run, being close at .258. Adding to that, Guerrero Jr. has hit a dozen home runs in these 26 games, tying with Hidalgo, DiMaggio, Gehrig and Mays for most of the nine aforementioned players.

But that’s not even the most impressive part of what Guerrero Jr. is doing right now. In fact, his numbers in the second half of the 2024 season are the best of any player in MLB history since 1901 with over 109 plate appearances, which is how many the slugger has as of Thursday.

Yes, you read that right.

While the sample size of 25 games is roughly a third of most players, his 1.480 OPS since the All-Star Break is better than any other player, and one of nine seasons, and five players who had an OPS greater than 1.400. The only others were Aaron Judge (2024), Barry Bonds (2001, 2002, 2004), Jeff Bagwell (1994), Ted Williams (1957) and Babe Ruth (1920).

It’s not just OPS where Guerrero Jr. is leading, either. His .457 batting average is tied with Harry Heilmann’s 1927 season, while his .957 slugging percentage stands tall above the likes of Bagwell’s ’94 run, where he posted a .916.

Contrast it with the O's, who after adding the likes of Santander, Mountcastle, Rutschman and Henderson to the fold, now have Jackson Holiday coming up and looking like another superstar...

Top of the 9th, Kirk is on second base and gets out at 3rd, due to hit that went into, then through the 3rd base man.

nobody else available to run for him?-- I will say leaving him in didn't hurt them, as they managed to tie it in the 9th--- but it seemed a bit strange to leave the slowest guy on the team on  base.

It’s been a season to forget for Bo Bichette. Actually, it’s been a season-and-a-half to forget for the Blue Jays shortstop. Ever since dealing with leg injuries dating back to last August, Bichette hasn’t quite been the same.

And as he continues to rehab his calf injury, he’s ramping up baseball activity as the two-time All-Star attempts to make a return before the end of the year. And with all eyes squarely upon Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and his next contract, Bichette has faded into the background.

As the Blue Jays continue to ponder their future with or without their franchise figureheads, it appears they may be ready to move on from at least one staple in their lineup.

This tidbit from Bob Nightengale’s latest piece at USA Today unearthed something that people have been whispering about in the background, but now it has been substantiated (credit to Brandon Wile for finding the pullquote).

The Toronto Blue Jays are expected to entertain trade offers this winter for shortstop Bo Bichette, who has no plans to

stay in Toronto once he’s a free agent after the 2025 season.

This doesn’t mean the Blue Jays will trade Bichette in the offseason, but with everything that’s transpired this season, it would not be a shocker to see Bichette in a non-Blue Jays uniform in 2025. While Vladdy has publicly stated his desire to stay in Toronto long term, Bichette has been coy about his future with the Blue Jays.

Nightengale’s report also lines up with something Jeff Blair said last week on Blair & Barker, indicating he also believes the probability of the Blue Jays trading Bichette this winter is high:

Right now, if I had to rank Bo coming back without a new contract, Bo being traded, or Bo getting a new free agent deal, I would go 1.) Bo being traded, 2.) Bo coming back with the same contract, 3.) Bo coming back with a deal, buying out his free agency.

I absolutely believe Bo needs a change of scenery. I think everything we’ve seen tells us that.

Even if he has no interest in re-signing past 2025 with the Blue Jays, it doesn’t mean the Blue Jays are beholden to trade away their shortstop. But if the guy doesn’t want to be here, and he already has one foot out of the door in his mind already, it makes sense for the Blue Jays to game plan for life after Bichette and pull the parachute one year early and at least recoup some value.

I've been saying this for a while now...Bo wants a change of scenery. Hopefully the team can pull off a deal that helps them in the near future.....

Not sure how many have seen it, but JL has one of the defensive highlights of the year, from back when he was with the Astros. He was playing in right and a ball took him back to the fence....he jumped at just the right time to take extra bases away, but as he was coming back down, the ball popped out of his glove.....

No problem....as he fell, Loperfido re-caught the ball with his bare hand....just before it hit the ground:
