Haven’t had that match since Gillis and AV.

snowman955
Just wondering about this. We knew money wise, it was near impossible to retain him. Wishing Bear all the best. In previous posts , there was mention of a possible trade with Washington. Has Washington pulled a fast one, assuming we needed one or 2 more D? Shrewd move but a business move. Bear could have helped ,but after stating he didn't feel needed. He chose to take the path of least resistance. Mind us all. It was here that the opinion of a trade to Washington was mentioned. If in fact he did sign with Washington, would he be part of the parcel in our trade proposal?
27 Percent
I don't get the obsession with Ethan bear... Where would he fit on this team with soucy back? 7th defenseman at best.
VegasCanuck
Although he would have provided us with more depth on defense without giving up any other assets, for the moment, I'm actually really good with our current defensive lineup once Soucy comes back. Hughes / Hronek (24 min per night) Cole / Soucy (18 min per night) Zadorov / Myers (18 min per night) Juulsen Friedman That's a pretty solid line up and for the most part, a physically intimidating one. Other than Hughes, pretty much everyone else is 6' or taller and 3 of them over 6'5". They can all skate and we have at least 2 (Zadorov and Juulsen) who will hit with purpose when the opportunity presents itself. 2
GrammaInTheTub
Juulsen’s emergence made Bear less of a priority for us even as a depth role player. Wish him all the best in Washington. Pretty cool that he may get to make an epic memory in teeing up an Ovie one timer.

cripplereh
Glad he is not here. No room and he seemed disappointed with being here and called it "needed". We do not need him now , so glad he is going to be on another team. All our D play better then him , even our 7th D is better. 1

Coryberg
They want me here, instead of needing me.” We definitely needed him... to sit in the press box when we have a healthy roster.

I think you are bang on Alf. Bear was a feel good story and all the best to him. IMHO he was rushed in Edmonton and moved on to Carolina. He learnt there and brought some decent play to Vancouver. But the bottom line is he is not a 2RD which slides him down to 3RD at best. We the needs faced by the Canucks Juulson at league minimum is rounding into a far better option. He is physically bigger, plays a stronger game and frankly takes care of the net front better. His cost will be much less than half of Bear's.

It's kind of an odd statement. If he had decided not to go to the world's he would have had a 2 year deal here.

I wonder if we would have signed Bear, considering he would have been a bottom pairing guy with Soucy and Cole coming in.

I get the impression Bear is upset we didn't stick with him when he got injured. Playing at the worlds is a recipe for bad things if you don't have a contract.
