The media leaked it is what happened. Coaches get fired all the time, they just don't often play out in front of the cameras is all. The organization arranged for the new staff to start on a particular date and they stuck with it. As Rutherford stated [paraphasing] we won't allow outside influences (private media and social media pseudo justice warriors) to dictate how we conduct our business. Bruce was caught in the middle. And real nice of the media to do that to him, too. Elliot Friedman stated he's sat on stories before because he knew what the implications would be. So where was the restraint on that one? Granted, it is widely believed the leak came from TNT when Tocc put his notice in so a story like that was likely never gonna stay quiet for very long. So if it wasn't Friedman breaking would've been someone else. Just a byproduct of the media beast and the entertainment business that is NHL hockey when you break it down. All that aside, 100% agree.
