Leys hope the oilers don't start putting it all together and start a good run

West hasn't looked as strong this season, it's a climb but you never know

McDavid jumped from 29th in points to 13th last night, if the Oil's top six can stay hot and go on a couple heaters they could be right back in it

9 points in 2 games for McDavid, 5 for Draisaitl

Oil are absolutely top heavy but when McDavid and Draisaitl are on one can't count Edmonton out

That would not be good for Van, at all.  Staying out of the wild card race is, imo, contingent on the Oilers staying out of the divisional race

Six points behind Seattle with two games in hand, I think St. Louis could slip too. The current western top six should probably make it just fine if injuries don't derail things.

I wouldn't worry about the wildcard bit anyway, neither LA or Vegas are going to be easy to beat. If the Canucks make the playoffs the season has to be considered a success regardless of what happens come playoff time.

We have 29 points in 22, Oil have 15 in 20, that's a huge gap to make up. If the Oil catch us it'll be because we slide. And if we slide that horrifically while the Oil go on heaters that's entirely on the Canucks.

Wouldn't that be a nice reward for whoever wins our division... You get a streaking Edmonton in the 1st round.

Yeah, could be rough

I dunno, Edmonton and Toronto are my two least liked teams by far but I'm reluctant to count out a McDavid and Draisaitl led Oilers squad at this point

Lower seeds in the west are def up for grabs, lot of season left and other teams will have their losing stretches and injuries

They can't worry about what other teams are doing, they have to figure out ways to win, and if they do they could climb up the standings

Wouldn't count Calgary out either, they've been pretty respectable thus far this month

Oils probably won't make it.  Even if McDrais go on a streak, their goalie duo can't carry them over 700 hockey.

500 hockey won't be good enough given the hole they dugged.

Ottawa just got screwed by the refs and war room hard. Terrible call on offside review..

Sens suck pucks. Too many top minute guys who only want to play with the puck, which is the fun part of the game. Guys like Stutzle won’t do the hard stuff and play the right way without the puck. A club will never win when their top minute guys play selfish. We saw that here with Horfat Wallet.

Agree. Lots of teams are capable of shutting down C and L. Without them dominating games the team struggles.

Florida would be wise to not give Patrick Kane any term beyond this year if they really are after him, they have some tough decisions to make sooner than later.

Sam Reinhart is already up to 15 goals and 27 points, last season he put up 31 goals and 67 points in 82 games. The season prior he put up 33 and 82 in 78 games. He could be well on his way to a career high, a third straight 30 goal season seems likely. He's due for a handsome raise on his current 6.5M. He just turned 28.

Montour and Forsling are also due for extensions, and raises.

Ekblad, Bennet, and Verhaeghe are up after next season.

Bob's 10M isn't off the books til after 25-26. A rising cap might help after next season but it might not help them as much this coming offseason, they may have to let someone walk or trade someone.
