We’ll hear from Tocchet shortly….I’m sure he’ll get asked. Either way, great coaching by Tocc it was definitely accountability, and apparently they got into it a bit and apologized after, lol. Love the kid. They both went at it for a bit and apologized to each other after. Jt came back and scored a goal. Deserves to play - he’s the emotional leader of the team. The rest are quiet and we need him. Sometimes his emotions go to far and that’s okay. He brings it back. We need him. - Need to ensure we can’t get fat and happy - When we build this thing, we can’t play like tonight - Benching JT was about accountability, but JT deserved to get back out in the 3rd, and his teammates were so happy for him - Hughes and Petey are producing and playing well defensively - Challenge with the leadership group, needs to let the game come to them, and not play river hockey. Don’t try to hit a home run every game -We’ve been really good last 3-4 games. We’ll review this one before SJS and Dallas -Demmer came up big in the third -Tried to force it tonight on the inside -loves Myers - After a really bad game, Myers texted RT and apologized. They had a walk together in Nashville, and he’s been really good since then. Really proud of him - Didn’t realize that was EP40’s first hatty at home. Hopes there’s many more to come Summary: Tocchet doesn’t F around 2 2 2

If they beat the Sharks they would have 15 in 10. Meaning they'd only need to beat last year's rest of the season by 4 points to make the playoffs. If they can play around this rate for 50 games, they only have to play .500 for the last

Popular Post Canuckleheads Fan
I didn't think Tocchet was the right hire, but you can't argue with success. He knows when to press the guys' buttons (JT tonight, questioning their professionalism on the road) and when to lay off. The only mistake I've seen this season was bag-skating the boys the day before the Philly game. His system is working, and they're making terrific coaching adjustments on the fly. He and his staff have been aces. I'm glad JT scored after getting out of the doghouse. Good game. The boys lost the thread in the first, as Nashville pushed hard, shut down the middle of the ice, and capitalized on some weak board work. Nice coaching adjustment in the second, working the puck up the boards instead. It was a scramble in the second, but both teams work basically the same type of system, which will look a little disjointed. The key was the Nucks found the thread, returned to their system, doubled down on the board work, and pulled it out. The special teams, especially the PK, won this game, as it could have gotten out of hand at the end of the first. Petey was great offensively but even better defensively. Open the vault door, PA, because he will deserve ALL the money. I thought Myers had another strong game. Cole made some stupid plays; fortunately, they didn't end up behind Demko. The more I see Friedman, the better that trade looks. Move a lefty Dman who would never play for the big club for a righty Dman who is in our top 4. He and Lafferty have been excellent acquisitions. I predicted 4-2 Nucks and a Petey GWG. Oh well, 2/3 ain't bad, and I'm happy Petey got the hatty. I threw my bonnet at the TV. 2 1

Popular Post JamesB
My summary: 1. Kind of a nervous start. The first significant play was Petey pushing the puck back to Myers at the point. It looked like Myers could have played the puck easily but he hesitated, then retreated, leading to a 3-on-1 rush, a hook by Myers, and a penalty shot. Fortunately, Foudy fell down on the penalty shot and Demmer made a good save. Myers was better after that and got an assist and was +2, but his underlying numbers were not good. 2. Speaking of Demmer, he played an excellent game. The team with the better goalie won in what was otherwise a close game. 3. Nashville had the edge in the stats and by the eye test through 2 periods, but the Canucks came out strong in the third and were able to lock down a fairly comfortable win. 4. Petey got the hattrick but, in my view, Hughes was the star of the game, although they were both very good, as was Hronek. Statistically, Hughes and Hronek were dominant as a pair (again). 5. We saw the "bad" JT Miller from last year for the first two periods, taking 3 bad penalties and just looking hot-headed and out of sorts. Tocchet made the right call by leaving him on the bench for the last part of the second period. First, it is the right message. Second, Miller was hurting the team. He came out much better in the third (the "good" JT Miller) and, among other things, scored a goal. Boeser made a nice play on that goal and set a nice screen on one of Petey's goals. Nice to see Boeser on the scoresheet again and he played hard. 6. The bottom 6 forwards are certainly trying to get on the scoresheet, and Lafferty and Beauvillier succeeded and played pretty well overall. Once again, Suter had chances but is now 0-for-9. Hogs played with energy but might be getting too "fancy" again. He needs to drive the net and get the puck on net. Joshua played with more energy (after getting called out by the coach again), and he was credited with 4 hits tonight, leading the team. I am guessing he did enough to stay in the line-up. 7. Not a picasso, but I'm sure we will all take it, with very heavy reliance on Hughes, Petey, and Demmer. 8. Now we just need to focus on Thursday against San Jose. This is another test. We passed the "decent start" test, the "tough road trip" test, the "home game trap" test, and beat Nashville in their "revenge game". The next test is "can we focus and beat a weak team", which is a test the Canucks have often failed in the past. But I think things are different with Tocc (and Hughes and Petey). Boo! 5 1 3 5
