It’s not some out of nowhere surprise that we’ve turned it around. And while I’m not sure exactly how good we are, I dare say it should be sustainable if we stay reasonably healthy. Allvin saw our biggest weaknesses and went overkill trying to fix them. On that note, I do think the overall structure is better this year - and the PK and defence is noticeably improved - so it’s not the same as the Bruce bump (or post Bruce bump). But we’ve seen glimpses of this team’s talent - our top end players were legit even in looser environments. And for all the players brought in, it’s still the same old core driving the bus (plus Hronek). Now that they’ve all bought in to Tocchet and co’s plan it’s great to see. I just appreciate how steady he is and that he always seems to make the right call/right play. He always knows exactly when to pinch, when to step up and hit somebody, when to back off, where to get his stick... Due to a problematic Chicago team it took a bit longer, 17 years and in 2011 the Canucks were again in the finals. Friedman had a rough first game and has been great ever since and downright sensational tonight. He broke up around 5 plays along the wall singlehandedly tonight. All of our pairings were fantastic. Our depth were great. Brock had a horrible night only on the basis he was handed like 5 grade A chances and couldn't bury. He is a very composed, intelligent player who keeps it nice and simple. Isn't afraid of playing aggressive and has been a great addition.
