Yes, totally agree... Just not sure if they're there yet.  Really hope so... Won't have long to find out!

Totally agree, don't think this group is quite there yet, but certainly should be the next step/rung on the ladder before you can start really believing that they are a true contender.

Hopefully that starts tonight! Edmonton is walking in wounded.

They'll get it together, I'm sure.  A roster with two of the top 5 players in the world won't falter for long.  However, they've got a tough row to hoe

I think they will, as well.

I don't see a SC in the near future; they just don't have the depth or enough talent beyond their top 2.

I think it's more than likely that one of those 2 forwards (Drais) will have to be traded in order to make

the necessary improvements.  Perhaps changing up the coaching staff as well.

In 2yrs, Drais will be 30yr old playing in his UFA season.  He's going to want the evidence that the Oilers

are almost a sure thing for a SC.

Hope the team is rested and very focused for this one as Its an important divisional tilt. I think this game will be a challenging one.

Although the Oilers have not had early season success so far, they really have not played that poorly  - in fact - most nights out shooting their opponents (pushed 49 shots against DAL). Their problems have been some  inconsistencies in net and the odd D lapses during games that have cost them results but their overall offensive potential - Oilers Team CF=58 - 2nd League- is still very dangerous.

Hope RT+ company can adjust a few things from that last contest against the Oilers - be a bit more patient in their play to eliminate turnovers + odd man rushes - stay out of the box against one of the most dangerous PPs in last few years. Last time against the Oilers, the Canucks took way too many penalties resulting in DeSmith having to be acrobatic and all-world to secure the 2 points.

Also best for the team to be focused early and ready at the start of the game as I expect the OIlers to come out blazing.  Hopefully RTs game plan tonight will give them a chance to secure the W and avoid having a track meet with the Oilers.

So, some are calling the Oilers Cup contenders with a 2-7-1 record, second last in the league. After tonight they could be 2-8-1.

If the Oilers had goaltending, I would say they could bounce back, but their goaltending is bad, and the D isn't that good either. Seeing McDavid miss the playoffs again would be so satisfying. Ron McLean might lose his mind.

Well, Coil, you had your shot over the last few seasons and wasted it. The Canucks are on the rise and will be your nightmare once again.

If the Canucks play the same way they did against Nashville (the 3-2 game) and the Stars they're going to mop the floor with the Oilers.  They have no system in place, no NHL goaltending.  Their PP specialist Bouchard is their best defenceman.  They have no team defence and their forwards are always cheating when they don't have the puck.  The Canucks look like a team that has completely bought into Tocchet's system.   Prediction: 5-1 Canucks.
