I wonder if this may mean someone knocked the Canuck's socks off filling in late this year and someone with a slightly higher salary that normally

Backs-up for the Canucks will no longer be needed?

Certainly could be.

Considering that the Abbotsford team had Silovs, Tolopilo and Sawchenko basically until March, im sure it added a lot of cost financially and developmentally to the Canucks to keep all three goalies. I remember listening to Thomas Drance and apparently the first year with Abbotsford - their operational costs of the roster was the highest in the AHL and ownership didn't like that.

Knowing they can trust Lemieux, means they can leave him in the ECHL and focus on just two goalies with Abbotsford. Good development plan in the ECHL with Kalamazoo too this past season. I recently read an article and it share mainly that Ryan Johnson and his relationship with Kalamazoo helped them supplying influx of AHL based players to  them and in turn the spent a good time developing some of the prospects too. Chad Nychuk, Ty Glover, Cooper Walker and Lemieux were the beneficiaries of that time, all who contributed to Abbotsford late last season too. Likely to see a slew of guys in Kalamazoo too if Abbotsford gets filled with guys.
