[Weekes/Dhaliwal] Zadorov Requests Trade, Canucks/Leafs Among Interested Teams

Rumor

Leafs would be working on something including John Klingberg and the Vancouver native prospect, Fraser Minten. Klingberg is on an expiring deal and definitely appears in this trade for cap reasons. Minten is the real asset, the 2022 38th overall's stock has risen and it would make sense for the Leafs to try an capitalize on that.

Obviously, the Canucks' offer would start with Anthony Beauvilier. He's on an ending contract with a similar cap hit, it gets tricky about the prospect they could pitch in. Minten is a nearly NHL-ready forward, he's already played in four NHL games before he was sent down to the WHL. Would the equivalent be Danila Klimovich? Arshdeep Bains? Sawyer Mynio? Should the Canucks try and match that?

Zadorov sucks pucks. Allvin is way too well informed by a very good pro scouting department to steer clear. Leafs would need to add a lot more than some no name prospect just to dumperoo the mistake that is Klinberg.

Yes, that is the type of deal we should be looking at.  A “b” or “c” prospect… sending out cap to make the money work, and probably even a mid round pick (hopefully 3rd or later).

If the price is higher than that, we shouldn’t chase a deal.  This is the exact type of situation I thought we should save Rathbone for.  He is the perfect kind of NHL ready (or near ready) prospect with upside that is a sweetener in a deal like this.  He would be attractive to a re-tooling/rebuilding team.

Friedman is fine, but not much of an upgrade on the depth guys we have… not who you want to spend one of our very few trade assets on.

The more I think about it, Garland might make more sense for Cowtown. They need players to up the effort, and guys under contract if they aren't blowing it up

Yeah, teams like Calgary, Winnipeg, Columbus, Buffalo, and Ottawa would probably be teams that appreciate having an extra year or two of contract length.

I just have no use for anyone from Calgary other then Andersson. Tanev looks so slow this year. Watching him play vs Habs right now.

I'm thinking Beau and Hogs.

Hogs + Garland

We need to sign Zadorov to an extension if we give up a guy like Hogz. Otherwise it's no deal.

Too much to give up for a guy hitting UFA at end of season.

If we trade Hog preferably we can package him for a legit top 4 RHD like Hronek.  Hard player to get and they don't come on the market often but you never know.

PA is working on acquiring a RHD and probably has his eye on a couple of them. Maybe even working on a deal that might take a bit of time.

Give to get sure... If Hoglander and a first were bigger parts of a package to get say Pesce...sure. Zadorov....umm no.

Yup. Might be the sweetener needed to not lose Zad to Tor.

Zadorov should not require Hoglander....that's silly. If Toronto wants to give up that much value, let them. Then try to sign him in the summer.
