Adding to the nine games from his first pro season, with substantially increased icetime that the young Finn held down tight. Miss Korea Posted January 24 Share Posted January 24 PHILADELPHIA FLYERS STATEMENT With Philadelphia having made some significant midseason moves, the Flyers are now grounded for the indefinite future. The city of brotherly love has endured much hardship, and its fans will have to endure a little more while this storied franchise attempts to rebuild from scratch. With its draft cupboard having been completely depleted and freshly signed albatross contracts pushing the team up against the cap, the Flyers had no choice but to admit defeat from day one. $5 million in dead cap space. $8 million buried in the minors. As a new GM thrown into the fires of hell, the only course of action was "major surgery": clear space where possible and recoup as much capital back in return. The departures of John Marino, Bowen Byram, and Anthony Cirelli have yielded us a total of 8 draft picks in the first two rounds: four 1sts and 4 2nds in the next two years. My only hope is for them to succeed where this team has failed - I wish them the very best. Despite significant constraints brought upon by the anchor contracts, there are sunny days ahead for the Philadelphia Flyers. The prospect cupboard will be filled this offseason using modern analytics. In order to stay competitive, the current squad will be filled with free agents this summer. GM Optimist Prime insists that this is not a fire sale while pointing to the now TEN 2022 draftees that will need a contract for Next Season over the coming months. Quote We love the foundation and support columns of this club and are not looking to make fundamental changes at this time, however, we did make significant investments into the future success of Seattle that we now need to make room for. The core here, along with our successful drafting regime will prove to be exciting hockey in Seattle for years to come. That being said we are not likely done yet. I have been taking calls most days this week and will continue to do what is expected to make this club a playoff success.
