All 5 of the players we got have insane potential, and all 5 have been trending upwards for years. 22. D Cole Hutson (Our rank - 13) 26. RW Terik Parascak (Our rank - 14) 49. C Luke Misa (Our rank - 26) 57. D Daniil Ustinkov (Our rank - 44) 117. D Marcus Kearsey (Our rank - 45) Not to mention acquiring Egor Afanaseyev, who we think could be a top 6 winger and was dealt to San Jose irl today. We would like to officially qualify Afanaseyev as well, and will look to sign him in the coming days. Popular Post Mike Vanderhoek
ENTRY DRAFT REPORT: The New Jersey Devils have concluded a very busy day at the GML Entry Draft. Hats off to @canuck2xtreme, @Rush, and @Caboose and anyone else I may have left out for all their hard work and time today! The Devils made 13 selections today drafting six forwards, five defensemen, and two goaltenders. Two later picks were traded, one to the Jets to add a pick in 2025 as well as another to Pittsburgh to bring in young prospect forward Samu Salinen. First Round Selections C Michael Hage - 18th overall RW Justin Poirier - 31st overall Second Round Selections D Tomas Galvas - 46th overall D Jakub Fibigr - 54th overall Third Round Selections RW Miguel Marques - 64th overall D Luke Osburn - 66th overall C Tomas Mrsic - 75th overall C Max Plante - 77th overall G Eemil Vinni - 81st overall D Luca Marrelli - 82nd overall G Nicholas Kempf - 89th overall C Christian Humphreys- 92nd overall Fourth Round Selections D Leon Muggli - 95th overall We had produced an extensive listing of players for our Draft board and had a lot of fun reading reports, stats sheets, watching a little video and trying at the ever so amateur level to make assessments on countless youngsters. It was a lot of fun, interacting with the GML family along the way was and continues to be an awesome experience. Selecting Michael Hage was a sweet moment as he was the player I continued to project being at around 18th. Quite surprised to have him right where we wanted him. Excited to add each player and start to stock the traditionally bare or place holders of a prospect pool with legitimate NHL prospects at each position. I won't bore with the amateur details but it was a lot of fun trying to identify certain qualities in the types of players I wanted and subsequently chose. Thanks again to everyone here for a great day. If anyone has any thoughts on my picks, where they were selected etc please fire away. Thanks! 4 1

Hage has the makings of a top six two way centre. Poirier is a sniper, goals win games and he scored over 50 last season. Marelli could be a steal in the third, two way RHD are valuable commodities. I picked up Kempf in Nails league. The tools are there for him to get a job in the NHL. 2
Sludge
After a weekend of fishing and relaxing, the GML draft was the perfect cherry on top. Thank you to @canuck2xtreme @Caboose for keeping things moving smooth, you're time and effort is greatly appreciated. After revamping the defense in Chicago this year i was hoping to take home a solid forward prospect, Catton falling to 12th was more than i could've hoped for. After missing my pick in the second i felt i might as well take a swing, and i feel Mac Swanson was exactly that. The USHL Clark Cup MVP, USHL Forward of the Year, USHL Most Assists / Best +/- and USHL Player of the Year, is a small player that i hope follows in the footsteps of other small NHL stars. Looking forward to next year! 3
JohnnyEhGiver
The Toronto Maple Leafs are thrilled with how draft day turned out despite not make a single pick. Toronto had a couple contracts they that have been trying to move for weeks and today hours before the draft kicked off talks intensified leading to a series of trades that when the dust settled the Leafs had managed to move all of their undesired assets for reasonable prices. GM Johnny was quoted saying that he was very thankful with the GM’s involved for smooth negotiations and an appreciation shoutout to GM Relyt Krets for saving the series of trades that took place after a crucial trade was almost vetoed do to a technical miscommunication. Looking forward towards free agency it’s rumoured that the Leafs have a recently reached out with a contract to soon to be UFA Sergei Bobrobsky. The Leafs will also be looking to add a couple of bottom pairing defensemen but are elated with how much of this years roster will be carried into next season. 24/25 predicted Lineup: Kyle Connor Nathan M. MatchesMalone
Really excited about our haul of prospects: 6. Anton Silayev 33. Matvei Gridin 36. Yegor Surin 67. Kamil Bednarik 97. Kim Saarinen 98. Miko Matikka 119. Simon Zether We had decided early in the season that the 2025 draft will be the stronger class, so we put more of our focus into acquiring 2025 picks, but still ended up with 7 picks in this draft and landed some prospects we really like. Personally, I have Silayev #2 overall in my IRL rankings now, although he may not be quite as valuable in fantasy as he is IRL. Watching him in KHL all year, he didn't show much offensive promise, but when I watched him at the end of the season in MHL playoffs against his peers I started to see some flashes of offensive upside. The thing that put him over the top for me was that he's going to win. Comparable to defensemen like Hedman, Chara, Pronger - we spend so much in assets in these leagues chasing players on contending teams, but when he's in his prime, whatever team Silayev is on is going to be a contender just by virtue of him playing there. Other than that, it was important for us to get at least one goalie into the system, and Saarinen was one of our top 3 ranked guys. Surin was one guy that both Ilunga and I had been big fans of all season long, so it was a tough call to take Gridin at 33, but he has the potential to be an offensive dynamo and is going to a legendary program in Michigan, and thankfully we were still able to nab Surin at 36. I keep track of NTDP stats against NCAA DI opponents every year, and Bednarik was their 3rd best producer at that level after Hagens and Eiserman, and he's committed to another legendary program in BU. We've still got one more year to go in full-scale rebuild mode, but the prospect pool is starting to pile up, and I think we're not too far out from icing a perennial contender. Popular Post Mike Vanderhoek
Friendly Reminder to our members that over the coming days we will be reaching signing deadlines as it pertains to the Free Agency period. Deadline to sign pending UFAs - June 27, 2024 @ 11:59pm once this deadline has passed, teams will not be able to sign any pending UFAs until Free Agency opens July 5th. Deadline to qualify pending RFAs - June 30, 2024 @ 11:59pm once this deadline passes, any pending RFAs not qualified will become UFAs. Deadline to adjust Front Office Budget for 2024-25 - June 30, 2024 @ 11:59pm You can only change your front office budget once between the end of the regular season and June 30. There are no exceptions. If you have not changed your budget then your current budget will roll over into the next period. Initial Offer Phase of Free Agency - July 1-4, 2024 This is the date you can submit UFA offers or Offer sheets to RFAs for consideration, this is done over a four day period so as to provide our members flexibility with their schedules and ensure everyone has time to submit their offers. Nobody has the inside edge placing an offer July 1st versus July 3rd. Free Agency Negotiations Open – July 5, 2024 @ 12:00am This is the date you may start to see signings trickle in and for the most part will start receiving replies from agents for players. Who are the Agents this Free Agency Period? Member clubs can contact: Lethunder arby18_ Mike Vanderhoek ***ThatMike & Sergei Bobrovsky ( to be confirmed ) Are Agents assigned to specific players and if they are how will I know who to contact for which player ? Teams can submit offers as of July 1st to any agent. All offers are recorded and each agent will take offers, before negotiations start July 5th you may get a bounce back reply from an agent forwarding you to another agent who will be dealing with said player, if so you continue with the other agent. Important to understand you CANNOT offer to one agent have them reply talking terms and then you switch to a different agent. If this is to happen the club offering loses the ability to negotiate with that player moving forward. It has been 15 minutes and I have not received a reply to my offer, and another player simply signed elsewhere without replying, what is going on ? Free Agency, that is what is going on. Kindly remember the agents like GMs and otherwise are volunteering their time for this experience just like you. To ensure offers are recorded, fairly reviewed and negotiations can take place it can be time consuming, no agent will be offended by a friendly bump in pm and will address your concerns as time permits. Secondary to this is the fact that some players receive multiple offers and one just frankly stands out or is an ideal fit, leading to a possible signing without replies to other clubs or " chances " for other teams to try and sign the player. I can't tell you how many times we used to go back and forth and back and forth for every suitor to claim they never had their chance to make a final offer. What is reviewed when I offer, and what does the right " fit" mean? Offers get recorded and reviewed, variables looked at but not limited to can be: term, compensation, fit ( 2nd line winger offered 2nd line winger role ), stage in career, club caliber ( contender, content bottom feeder, upward trending bottom feeder, downward trending team, etc ), and Contract clauses. Agents also take into account your actual current roster so when teams say " we plan to move this player or that player so your client will have a spot ", that is a no no. Have the available spot when you make the offer. One area as well involves your Front Office budget under " Player Relations ". This number is also looked at, if a player narrows his choices down to three teams and there is a variation in Player Relations between the three clubs the team investing a higher amount will be looked at more favorably in conjunction with the other variables. So don't offer a top 6 forward a 3rd or 4th line role but lots of money and assume you are 2? 5? 9? million higher in Player Relations so its a slam dunk, doesn't work that way. Salary Cap continues to rise, look at all this cap space! As the Salary Cap rises and this year it is noticeable it doesn't mean you can sign more players above league minimum, it means you can expect an uptick in contract expectations by players and agents all round, meaning MONEY. It is common to see teams try and sign RFAs to low cap long term deals, agents see right through this. It is just as common to see a team try and sign a veteran for only two maybe three years and it is only natural as teams want to maximize value and not pay an aging vet top dollar. Again agents see through this kind of behavior as well. There is also a trending attitude around the league to try and lock up high end talent for low compensation and again this is noticed and noted by agents and the league. If you have top end talent don't be complaining when you have to open the pocket book for them, be happy you have that talent in the first place. The short of it, you can expect salaries to bump up, please don't waste time complaining or arguing about it moving forward because the cap is only going up at this point. Mike Vanderhoek
@The Brindy Gypsy 4.6 – Buyouts There are two separate one week buyout periods. One from June 20th-27th and one from Sept.23rd-30th. During these buyout periods, teams can buy players out of their contracts if they so desire. Any teams buying out a contract will incur a cap hit of 33% of the player’s annual salary for each remaining year of the contract. Players must clear unconditional waivers before they can be bought out, unless that player holds a NMC. Players with a NMC are able to be bought out without unconditional waivers.
