Ya it's bad when 2/3 of your top line don't look very good and are having issues.

Someone here said something about putting Hogs on that line for a bit.  That energy might do them good, and it's a nice reward for Hogs' play lately.

I agree. Accountability. You don't get first line minutes because of last years results. Good to hear Tochetts comments on him. "Kuzy's got to play harder."

Is Juulsen really the best rhd, we can muster, after Myers...

If so we need to make a trade, badly.
Soucy is missed on the D, that much is blatantly obvious...

On the game itself, after a decent start, they got out worked by Seattle, and the better team on the night won.

Lers hope they turn it around against Sharks, as they don't want to lose the wind in their sails, and their swagger with it.

Onwards and upwards...

PS. @smithers joe, tine for you to start put the other teams down as winners in PTSC...

😃

Boys just lacking a lottttt of structure. Our forwards are all playing the walls leading to a lot of odd man rushes and it killed us in the neutral zone and offensively.

Another blunder of a game, especially considering Grubauer looked way off tonight.

Really only impressed by Hughes and Hoglander tonight.

Petey again had another poor game for his standards. He's starting to become inconsistent on his back checks and it's hurting the team. He's either full tilt and committed or isn't bothering to try to catch up which is very unlike him.

Wolanin when he's done being injured should replace him. Juulsen wasn't the issue tonight though.

True but he doesn't even look threatening out there. That has to change or else it just means he's skating around for 40 seconds aimlessly.

Kuzmenko's game is highly creative and looks very stifled because his only passing options are to the walls. It's rare he has somebody in the slot to make a play to, so he's not looking nearly effective. He's an east-west player playing with north south structure. He's not playing well enough but he's also not the player built for low-creative offense.

These guys were so dialed in during the summer, going into training camp, getting off to a great start ... we could just be seeing a natural come down from their  intensity. They need to find a way to get some rest and mentally get that edge back.

As JR said, this is a good team if everything goes right. It's a great team, but the lack of depth, especially on the RHD is really telling.

Hoping we address this at the deadline, Beauvillier is looking very expendable right now.

Beau does nothing out there. He needs to start looking interested in games. Make some sort of impact.

We can't have the team relying exclusively on Petey, JT, Hughes, Hronek and to a lesser extent Hogs, all the time.

We need Mik, Kuz, and all the supporting cast to start scoring, and start contributing.

We need the forwards to help out with the defence again, and the other four d-men play a simple, and mistake free game.

Hughes and Hronek can't keep playing 28:00+ minutes a night.

Beau and Garland just can't get anything into the net.

We need Suter back too.

Until Soucy is back, our forwards need to do better job in helping our dmen. Demko needs to be lights out Demko again as he's letting pucks in he should save or normally would save.

Using an extreme example that in no way actually relates to the discussion makes you look silly. And acting smug about it just makes you look even more silly. Mr Silly pants.

Unless of course you truly believe that a broken leg and feeling tired have the exact same effect on professional hockey player at the peak of physical conditioning. Perhaps most of the teams legs are broken? That woukd explain the struggles a of late?

These things happens around the league. Doesn't mean we can downplay it for the Canucks anymore than we can for other teams. "Excuses" is simply the wrong way to frame it is all. Fatigue and injuries often do have an affect on outcome. And it's okay to admit that, win or lose.

Just look what happened last year without Demko and all the injuries on the back end as well. Nothing to do with last years poor performance?

So, who's being silly here exactly. And on that note, you can go run a mile too, hop along number 2.  😉

No, but the fact we have Juulsen and Hirose in the lineup with one significant D-man injury is a sign that we have very poor defensive depth beyond the top 3-4 guys. Our blueline is 5 NHLers deep. And 3 of them are 3rd pair guys. Depending on where you lean with Soucy could maybe argue we have 4 top 4 guys. But that seems generous. Either way, this team has needed blueline help even before Soucy got injured.

Yep. I miss the way we were playing earlier in the year. Cup contender status. Our slot was an absolute safe teams had to crack to get access to and now it's very inconsistently covered. We had full team pressure on teams and they couldn't ever get out of their own zone because our d were constantly pinching and now I get excited when we do. It's so rare again.

Honestly coaching needs to get the team back to where they were because they're nowhere close and I think they need to be using their timeouts when the boys aren't playing with that structure. The only time we use a time out is unnecessarily at the end of games.

Agree with all of what you say. Can't see Tocchet and co accepting this standard for too long.

For sure. Doesn't help that the team refuses to develop young D as well. Guys like Rathbone and Rafferty should have been developed a million times better. They honestly have some special talent with the way they can handle pucks, but it was squandered by being forced to play an AHL game and never getting NHL experience to learn the right way.

Defenseman need much more NHL experience to be adequate. It's very rare you see guys in the AHL multiple years in a row ending up flourishing to have decent NHL careers.

We have nothing anyone would want in a trade.

That's the problem.

Even if you move our first. We need to move salary with it.

Only move I can see is Garland and a 1st to Arizona for Dumba. And I'm not sure a 1st and Garland will move the needle on a RHD even with a 1 year deal.
