  1. 1. Will the Canucks Land a fLames Player?

    • Yes, Chris Tanev but only if the Canucks give up a 4th round pick or less - he's a rental after all.
      18
    • Yes, the other Giraffe on D (Russian one this time), but only if he agrees to a trade / sign deal that isn't longer than 4 years
      12
    • Never!!!!! Flames won't trade within Western Conference unless it is Tanev for Pettersson or something like that.
      28
    • #3 aside (Petey), yes, but only if it is more than the Canucks (or any other team) would be willing to pay ... DON'T DO IT Allvin!

Forgot to tag me. Not sure how you come to the conclusion I'm trying to appeal to anyone. I think most people here would consider me an asshole if we're being honest, and I don't really give a shit.

You think too highly of yourself 🤣

It wasn't just bounces going their way though. Their forecheck was noticeably better and each line was creating turnovers in the offensive zone.

They are playing slow, making bad reads, not finishing checks.

they were playing awesome, I don't think anyone disagrees.  However, I think they were punching above their weight class and are starting to come back to reality.  Still a good team, just not at the level people were getting excited about.

Not sure it’s a lack of desperation, imho it’s simply still an evolving conditioning to Tocchet’s style and the boys are kind of worn out. I don’t blame Tocchet for it though…this team for years has traditionally been up and down when it comes to playing with a consistent effort and focus. I think they will inevitably slump for a bit and then recover with a second wind, and that’s just part of the learning curve when playing as an elite level club. They just have to push through certain walls and incrementally become mentally tougher and disciplined.

They came into the season well prepared, and basically feasted on teams who started the season in a lesser capacity. Now we’re seeing competition play up to a normal level and that’s adding some adversity to a club that was invariably playing above their own median. Now that we also have some injuries, it’s time for some resistance to the overall pace and formula we were playing at before and that’s going to have an effect. Think a couple key players are also navigating some early minor injuries too (eg. EP).

I think we need to just give them some time to catch up to themselves, expect that with the way RT coaches and the demand he places on consistent effort and blue collar hard work and responsibility that they are going to have to reset previous expectation (eg. scoring will be effortless) every now and then and just work through the stretches where the game doesn’t come as easy as other times. It’ll make them a much more potent team as the season wears on, and is a mentality needed if we’re going to be a playoff team that can make some noise in the post.

just my opinion, but I expect we will see some stretches of less than optimal hockey from this club as the season continues. As long as they recover from them within a 4-5 game window, they should be ok. Happens to the best of them.

You make a lot of good points. Don't have time to respond to all.

What I will say is that the boys have not been elevating their game for important ones. And that's the most concerning. Coming out dead against Ottawa or SJ is one thing, but canucks looked like shit against Toronto, Calgary, Seattle. These are big games and the boys had zero energy or emotion. That's what concerns me most, is they can't find a way turn it on when it counts most.

Ya, I think you need to take a look in the mirror on that last comment. I just don’t understand the need to constantly look for trouble. To each their own. Good on you. Anyways I am done giving you the satisfaction. Let’s focus on the game! At least I will.
